Never mind, I've already found that there is (and should be). I've 
modified the instructions on the wiki to take this into account.

That is very much possible because the installer did until today put it's 
module options there (and with an error making sure it won't work).
So all you probably need to do is delete /etc/modprobe.conf.

Nice messy tangle now hopefully untangled...
