The weirdness was most visible when compared with the dejavu screenshots, 
which, for some reason Davide did not add...

Compare the dejavu 11 pt and the freefont 12 pt screenshots: arabic in the 
freefont screenshot is _smaller_ than in the dejavu screenshot, even 
though it is the same font [1] and the default point size with freefont 
is _larger_.

[1] At least it is supposed to be and very much looks the same.

P.S. The reason that we currently don't like Dejavu very much for a 
default font is that it has extremely bad kerning in some places.
Examples are "Tr" in Traditional Chinese and "Fr" in French.
