Package: choose-mirror Version: 1.19 Currently choose-mirror only checks if the mirror can be reached and if it contains the selected suite/codename. There is no check if the architecture being installed is supported by the mirror. The best check is probably to see if dists/etch/main/binary-$arch/Release (or Packages.gz?) is present. The check will become more important with the mirror split. I ran into this while doing a businesscard install where I, out of force of habit, selected my local mirror (which does not have hppa yet) for a hppa installation. This resulted in a very weird failure (that I think we've seen before in installation reports) during base-installation. The error on screen in that proc cannot be mounted (as there is no mount in the chroot). syslog has: Feb 19 13:52:55 debootstrap: ar: Feb 19 13:52:55 debootstrap: Short read Feb 19 13:52:55 debootstrap: Feb 19 13:52:55 debootstrap: zcat: Feb 19 13:52:55 debootstrap: Short read Feb 19 13:52:55 debootstrap: Feb 19 13:52:55 debootstrap: chroot: Feb 19 13:52:55 debootstrap: cannot execute mount Feb 19 13:52:55 debootstrap: : No such file or directory Feb 19 13:56:56 base-installer: error: exiting on error base-installer/debootstrap-failed
