I found out the reason for the bug:
the installer doesn't put this in the interfaces file:

allow-hotplug ethx


To solve the bug, just put this before:

mapping hotplug
        script grep
        map ethx

Now it works like a charm (at boot up, or when ejecting/inserting card)
