I meant to say: "could not be inserted". First a dialog box opened telling me
(I'm trying to put the German text in English): "No network card found, but a
firewire-device. Do you want to use firewire-ethernet? - Yes / No". On both
answers a second dialog box opened showing a list of available net drivers,
among others the sk98lin. Choosing it by hitting <return> had no effect using
the Testing net install versions. The Sarge version returned that the module
could not be inserted.

With "modprobe -v sk98lin" I did not get a feed-back. lsmod showed the name of
"sk98lin", but in /proc/net/sk98lin/ there was nothing; not the expected
"eth0". Switching back to the first console: Same as before.

greetings,
Georg
