F1 is just the general help (official install cdrom built on 20050305)
F7 is the advanced boot options i.e howto avoid pcmcia detection and such

unfortunately there is no mentioning of modules on floppys :(

Sorry, should've done that from the beginning....

My progress so far:

Attached a new HD on the internal sata ports and installed sarge onto that, worked fine.
Downloaded and compiled drivers for the 1820A.
insmod hptmv.ko and it worked :)) I could mount my raid volumes and all that.
Did some "install -d ..." , "install -c ..." and added the module in /etc/modutils aliases.
after a update-aliases I rebooted and it discovered the RAID correctly.

However I still can't boot from the RAID.

[After a cup of caffein]
I think I have to compile the opensource drivers found at
http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA/bios_rr1820a.htm so that the installer can use them.
I tried to do that by installing the nearest kernelversion supplied on the sarge DVDs
(2.6.8-2-686, installer uname -r says 2.6.8-2-386) but when I tried to load the new module from console I got "-1 unknown module format.

Can you please advise on howto compile stuff for the debian-installer ???
