It's supposed to be offered. Did you try pressing Enter with the cursor
on the "Size:" line for that partition in the partitioner, and then
changing the size?

(On a side note, at least older versions of X's via driver used to hang
one of my test laptops, and it was necessary to use vesa instead. I
think that's been fixed in X.Org, but we'd have to be careful in
XFree86.)
