Thomas Hood originally assigned my install report to netcfg and after
some investigation he reassigned it to pppconfig. Now that thanks to
the time and efforts of at least three dd's, my bug now makes some
sense, could someone please suggest where the bug properly belongs?

Thank-you for your effort to condense my now bloated bug report
Christian. Your summary is accurate as far as I can see. I would like
to append a summary very similar to yours and reassign that bug since I
am persuaded that it does not belong with pppconfig (since pppconfig
does not own /etc/resolv.conf and so should not create it).
