Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Initial boot worked: [O]
Configure network HW: [O] Required manual selection of e100 module.
Config network: [O]
Detect CD: [O]
Load installer modules: [O]
Detect hard drives: [O] Disabled the (fake) Raid 1 in BIOS prior to installation and used Linux software Raid. Partition hard drives: [O] Worked eventually. I found the process of creating software Raid devices using the installer not a straightforward one. Documentation on this appears to be sparse, couldn't find useful info. Suggestion: A help page with a step-by-step example for this procedure would have helped greatly.
Create file systems: [O]
Mount partitions: [O]
Install base system: [O]
Install boot loader: [O] Reboot: [E] Bug: Grub booted from (hd0,0) and aborted. The correct root entry turned out to be (hd0,4).

Comments/Problems:

Before resorting to install via the built in network interface, I tried to use a wireless network card from Netgear. There seem to be two Linux drivers for this
card, acx100 and ndiswrapper, both require 3rd party firmware for the card and both
are not available on the current installer afaics. Wishlist item: Since ndiswrapper supports various hardware, it would be nice to have it on the installer with an option to load the firmware from a separate CD or other medium. (The card works now, using the acx100 driver, I didn't try ndiswrapper)

X config didn't work out of the box, apparently the video card is not yet supported. Used Knoppix to find out that vesa driver works and configured that.

Sound doesn't work. (Saw a post somewhere which suggested that it should work with kernel 2.6.13 but haven't tried that.)

Finally, having been a KDE user for the past 3 years or so, I found it quite
disturbing that choosing a 'Desktop' system installs a Gnome desktop without mentioning it or better, giving me an option to use KDE.

Thanks for all the good work!
Andreas
- checking out Gnome now...
