Comments/Problems:

Did base installation only, then updated/upgraded from sid archive
and manually installed required packages with apt-get (my preferred
install method).
Mouse problem below came to light when I installed Xorg.

Unresolved problem: No PS/2 mouse

Have everything working except the mouse.
`cat /dev/psaux' reports `cat: /dev/psaux: No such device'
even though `ls -l /dev/psaux' shows:
crw------- 1 root root 10, 1 2005-09-15 15:52 /dev/psaux .
/etc/modules.conf contains:
alias char-major-10-1	psmouse
and `lsmod' shows that psmouse is loaded.
This is not a hardware problem. Plugging in a different hard disk
containing amd64 sid (same config) shows same info but mouse works
perfectly (eg. `cat /dev/psaux' produces expected garbage on screen when
mouse is moved).
Plugging this hard disk (i386) into another PC (k7)
shows the same problem.
As a further test I did a new base install from Sarge i386 CD then upgraded
from sid archive. The mouse works fine with this.

Other problems
______________

Installer couldn't find valid installation kernel. Had to chroot /target
and use dpkg -i manually to install kernel plus dependencies, run mkinitrd etc.
Once this was done GRUB installed OK from installer menu and reboot worked fine.

The installer kept complaining about not being able to find an installable
CD-ROM, even though I could see it was mounted (on /cdrom) and accessible
from the command line on tty1. By going back and forth through various installer
pages I got it to work (can't remember how). I've just tried the 18-10-05
netinst.iso and it does the same. I gave up here as it would be too painful
to proceed!

No locales package in installer.

Comments
________

I like the fact that exim4 wasn't installed by default. I use it
on my internet PC but not on others.
