Re: Bug#255237: kernel 2.6 doesn't recognize the SCSI controller or cdrom
Well ...
I downloaded the new 640 MB Debian aug 2005 Dist for iso Cd
install twice and neither burn would
boot from the burned cd and would indicate a corruption and would not
verify
so in leu of that I downloaded the net install but wasn't aware that
for security
reasons you aren't supposed to be connected to a network when
installing or
install this way without some network knowledge and experience
and I think my system was compromised a bit and the xserver files would
not seem to be found....and I could not get to a browser or desktop
so I deleted my hard drive and reinstalled this debian net install again
but this time without the cable to the network connected and again
this secure method while being able to boot quite easily fro the iso
burn cd
I still have no xserver, net server for downloads or desktop.
I also cannot seem to find the base-configure program either from the
disk
on my computer so I'm thinking the program didn't download from the CD
Personally I think the desktop software
i.e.: xserve should be included in this method if one is not supposed
to be connected
while net installing.... and that you absolutely would need to include
the base-configure program to probe after the fact... of install
Its somewhat impossible to find things for me only without xserve and a
desktop
of some sort ... I have found "aptitude" which was installed basically
but not
"synaptic" which is supposedly better. I installed my modem but the
system did
not even try to load it..... so now.... what???
hmmmm???
