Sure it does.  You make a partition on one drive, then select 'use this
partition for' and pick raid.  Repeat for other drive, then select
'setup raid'.

That's how you set the type.  I have done raid1 setup with the sarge
installer on two drives, and I even setup lvm on top of the raid.  The
new partition tool really works rather well, even if it isn't the most
intuitive interface.

I doubt being PPC should make a difference although I haven't done an
install on one.  It would be silly if they use a different partitioning
tool than other architectures.
