The mistake I made this time was that I took te manual page of debconf on a installed computer and assumed that D-I does have readline also as default. But for space reason are the needed files for that left out in Debian-Installer. It was the DEBIAN_FRONTEND=text that tricked me. 'text' is not known to debconf as frontend. Where did you read that 'text' should work? I want to replace that "information" with `debconf/framebuffer=false`. Cheers Geert Stappers P.S. Note that the reply goes below the answer.
