ftp mirror support is only available in expert mode and removing it from choose-mirror would save 45k from the initrd size and approximarly 124k from d-i runtime. Out of 312 mirrors, there are 35 mirrors that only carry ftp and 31 that only carry http. It's hard to count, but some of these are sites that split http and ftp to different hosts. Another way to save space if there are good reasons to keep these only-ftp mirrors is to include the ftp-only mirrors on the same mirror list as the http mirrors, marked as ftp for people who know ftp won't work to avoid. That might be too annoying to be worth the effort though. -- see shy jo
