Your use of the daily explains it: it uses the 2.6.11 kernel, but does not 
install the same kernel for the new system (temporary issue). Instead it 
installs a 2.6.8 kernel which probably fails to recognize your harddisk 
controller.

What you need to do is manually install the 2.6.11 kernel and make sure a 
new initrd is created for that and your bootloader is configured for it.
To install the new kernel you can use the rescue mode of the installer 
(boot 'rescue').
