The 2.6 kernel uses significantly more memory than 2.4, so we only
really support 2.4 in low memory mode.

Because we need memory to load disk drivers into before we can access
hard drives.


Anyway, I see no indication that bug #294654 has anything to do with low
memory (that machine had 512 mb of ram), and the problem reported in
#294654 comes well after the machine enables swap.
