Bug#317606: debian-installer fails to install GRUB on the correct disk

Package: debian-installer
Version: rc3
Severity: important

When installing sarge from DVDs onto drives that are on a add-on PCI IDE
controller, debian-installer does not put GRUB in the right place. My root (and
only bootable) partition was on /dev/hdg (hd2 to GRUB), but debian-installer
did not load GRUB there.

Unfortunately I don't have more detailed information since the GRUB install is
hidden behind a GUI. Which leads me into a feature request: in expert mode
debian-installer should allow the user to choose which drive to load GRUB onto
and allow the user to edit the menu.lst file. This is particularly important
when installing onto drives on an expansion storage controller since the BIOS
drive ordering usually does not match the Linux drive ordering (i.e. /dev/hdg =
hd0).

Thanks,
Jonathan
