You're not very clear about the exact time the installer "hangs". Was
it *after* the partitioning step, while installing many packages
(still before the reboot) or not.
Can you switch to the fourth console (Alt+F4) and see if there are
some messages over there?
Also switch to second console, open a shell and look into the
/var/log/* files (you can open them with nano, the tiny editor)

Please answer by keeping -boot CC'ed and in English if you can (if you
feel more comfortable in French, just tell and continue in French,
we'll manage...:-)))
Don't forget asking for help in -user-french. Besides the various
trolls over there, there are some useful people around also..:)
