This is intended behavior. lvm uses a single - as a separator between
the lv and vg names in a /dev/mapper type path. So to create a
guaranteed unique name in /dev/mapper/, any dashes in the vg or lv[1] names
have to be escaped; lvm doubles them.
Notice that if you run vgdisplay, or lvdisplay, the names will be as you
intended.
--=20
see shy jo
[1] Well, not really the lv; /dev/mapper/foo-bar-baz is unique if you
always split on the first lone dash.
