Comments/Problems:
Initially I booted the CD and recieved an error "failed to load
unix.ko" etc., as in this mailing list post:

Taking the advice of one of the follow-up posters I increased the
ramdisk size (it was already 16 mb, I increased it to 24 mb). After
increasing the the ramdisk size it booted correctly, and installation
was a breeze.
