The first link is spot on it is an nvidea3 chipset, I'm using an SATA
Maxtor 300gb hard drive. I've tried using the 2.4 and 2.6 kernels. The
2.6 just doesn't even load find the HDD, the 2.4 does but then cannot
partition the device. I left it for 24hrs trying to partition and it had
completed 1%. I have tried other distros (Slackware and mandrake) and
had the same problem.
As in some of the responses to link two the drive is registered by the
bios as ide3 master.
