Sorry, but these questions have nothing to do with development of the 
installation system (which is what debian-boot is about).

Please ask these (fairly basic linux) questions on the debian-user mail 
list or RTFM.
Hint: take a look at /etc/init.d and /etc/rc[S1-6].d
