Comments/Problems:
I chose auto-partitioning on a 4G drive, chose the "Desktop machine"
configuration (seperate root, swap, and home partitions) and chose "Desktop
environment" installation packages.

The auto-allocated space for the root partition was insufficient size for
the installation of the default "Desktop environment" packages selection
choice, and the packages failed to install due to lack of space. Other than
printing to the screen about 'need to get ### megs of packages, ### megs will
be used', no obvious warnings about a lack of space came from the
installation or package management. The resulting system was in terrible
shape.

According to the Sarge installation manual section about "Disk Space Needed
for Tasks" (http://d-i.alioth.debian.org/manual/en.i386/apcs03.html), the
space necessary for this is a little over 2 Gigs. The auto-partioning during
install set up the root partition with 1.2 Gigs.

Granted, the disk I used wasn't huge, and I know the installer can't read
minds, but there was plenty of space in the disk. If it's going to do
auto-allocation, it would be helpful to auto-allocate space necessary to
install the package-groups that are listed in the installer itself.

A subsequent re-install, setting it up all on one partition ("Beginner"
partitioning choice), was a complete success.

Regards,
Rob
