just to let you know folks the Serial ATA drive is detected it also loaded the e100 driver and I was able to connect. Great work... it would be nice however to have the grub installer be able to detect windows partitions and automatically add them as boot options if so desired. I believe this was the behaviour of the lilo configuration in the boot-floppies of woody.
