This is part of a FAQ: http://wiki.debian.net/?DebianInstallerFAQ
However it did not work. So far, i did not manage to get around the
DHCP-thing. Instead choosing a language at the first prompt i could
switch to a console and try everything by hand. What are the commands
the installer ist executing at that point?
I would try to boot of a cd but i do not have a SCSI-CDRom at hand. Most
other Distributions are CD-based. Debian is my favourite, of course -
but i could use others to try them out.
But there is an old Suse7.0 installation on the harddisk, the previous
owner left behind, which seems to work fine. I going to test that more
througly and will report.

thanks for that quick reply,
-simon
