We didn't put the above things in the report to be cute, it's impossible
to accuratly deal with most of your install report without them.

There are over 4 pages of options, they cannot all be displayed on one
page. I don't buy it that we're "hiding" anything.

I've used the same password for root and a normal user several times,
you're mistaken.

Sounds more like you misentered the user's password the second time. But
if so you would have been told you'd done that. Without the instalation
log you didn't include, I cannot speculate more.

I can only guess since you didn't tell us what version of the installer
you used or what version of Debian you installed, but this sounds like
#278566, which only affected installs of unstable, not sarge.

This information is useless without any information about your hardware.
