Bug#276629: installation-reports

Package: installation-reports

Debian-installer-version: Debian-Installer pre-rc2
uname -a: not that far yet
Date: 2004.10.15 10:30
Method: Boot from CDROM with sarge-i386-netinst.iso
Machine: Asus A7V133, 1GB RAM, Quantum lct10 (20GB)
Processor: Athlon 700
Memory: 1GB
Root Device: 20GB (no console yet, so no Hdx known yet)
Root Size/partition table: all in one partition
Output of lspci and lspci -n:

Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Initial boot worked:    [OK]
Configure network HW:   [OK]
Config network:         [OK]
Detect CD:              [OK]
Load installer modules: [OK]
Detect hard drives:     [OK]
Partition hard drives:  [OK]
Create file systems:    [OK]
Mount partitions:       [OK]
Install base system:    [OK]
Install boot loader:    [OK]
Reboot:                 [OK]

Package selection does not work. I always get the screen "There was a problem installing the
selected software ..."  Even the manual selection does show this. There is some text flashing
before that screen appears, but just for a second. Can't read that fast :-)
I'll try linux26 and another ftp server now (was uni-stuttgart).

The all well known boot modifiers (linux24, linux26 etc) are not user friendly. I suggest some kind
of simple menu there. At least the most important ones. One setting would be anvanced and you can
enter it the "old" way.
