Package: base, install
Version: Sarge, net-install, daily build of Oct 14, 2004

Associated packages:

Package: libreadline-common
Version: 5.0.1

Package: libreadline4
Version: 4.3-11

Details: Conflict when running Debian Sarge; net-instal; clean hard disk.
When base-config arrives at package selection and download, a version
dependency mismatch occurs. This error is 100% reproducable on 2 machines
over the past 36 hours. Error message is as follows:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libreadline-common: Conflicts: libreadline4 (< 4.3-13) but 4.3-11 is to be
installed.
tasksel: aptitude failed

When returning to base-config and attempting second time, it simply happens
again. Error message was obtained from base-confg-log in /var/logs .
aptitude will not continue beyond this point. A manual search of aptitude
shows libreadline5 (5.0.1) listed as an available package, but the Debian
Installer and base-config program are insistent on requesting libreadline4,
thereby breaking the setup routine.

This bug is already fixed, you just can't tell yet. ;) The libreadline5
and libreadline-common packages will be removed from sarge as of the
mirror pulse on the 15th.
