Why do you say that mouse is not working with 2.6 kernel?
On my laptop mousedev is loaded automatically (together with evdev and joydev)
as soon as psmouse is loaded.
(Loading psmouse gets both my touchpad and usb-mouse supported perfectly.)
I currently do have psmouse added manually in my /etc/modules, but that is
because of http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=255744.
I'm not sure that having mousedev loaded by discover on all systems is a good
solution for this problem.
