Cc'ing debian-boot... pls keep them on Cc for any follow-ups.
First of all: what type of installer image were you using? CD, netboot,
etc? And from what date?
I think the latest image I tried on my Ultra5 was a daily netinst from a
couple of weeks ago, and it worked fine. I didn't do anything special.
Just a simple boot crom the CD.
You should probably try the pre-RC2[1] netinst ISO, and if that doesn't
work, try the latest[2] daily instead.
If those images don't work, check to see if your memory sticks are
located in DIMM3/4. If so, try moving them to DIMM1/2. If moving them
solves the problem, we have a regression in the installer image, since
this issue was actually solved a long time ago now.
If nothing works at all, file an installation report
<http://www.nl.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/report-template> and
provide a _complete_ log from your serial console.
