This seems to be a fairly common problem. Some clock drift may result,
but that's all. 

Base-config should probably be changed to disable kernel logging to the
console while it's running to avoid messed up diplays, but I hesitate to
make this change at this point in the release cycle, since sometimes
kernel messages may be very important to see.

I'd suggest filing a bug report on the xserver-xfree86 package with all
the relevant details.
