Method:
I used the boot and root floppies. Net install (http) from another
machine in the local network with sarge-i386-netinst.iso mounted via
loop and served by Apache. No proxy.

Machine: generic computer
Processor: Pentium 75mhz
Memory: 24mb
Root Device: NA
Root Size/partition table: NA

Output of lspci and lspci -n: lspci is not present in the d-i shell.

Comments/Problems:

The packages were downloaded from the remote netinstall iso via http and
were uncompressed ok.
The "Partition disks" stage fails with the message:
No partitionable media were found. Please check that a hard disk is
attached to this machine.

I found only the following IDE information:

dmesg:

ide0 and ide1 not present in /proc/interrupts
/proc/ide has only one file "drivers" containing: ide-default version
