Comments/Problems:

1) Image does not fit on installation media
-------------------------------------------
Problem:  BUG
Severity: NORMAL
Description:
   zcat boot.img.gz > /dev/sda1
produces a 128 MB area, regardless of the size of USB-Stick. Some of the space is used by files of the installer. After this, netinst.iso does not fit into the remaining space. Maybe my system caused this.
Possible Solution(s):
- provide larger areas by boot.img.gz
- provide a little bit smaller .iso
- improve the documentation

2) USB Media does not boot
--------------------------
Problem: foreign
Description:
Needed playing around with BIOS, and BIOS upgrade to 1.13.
Possible Solution(s):
- improve documentation

3) Essential Hardware not dedected
----------------------------------
Problem:  BUG
Severity: GRAVE (IMPORTANT?)
Description:
After boot from USB-Stick and loading the .iso from hda3, essential hardware is not dedected, e.g. network-interface, floppy, southbridge. After playing around, trying the confusing paths of d-i, and some reboots I could step forwards.
Sorry, no d-i.log of this, because devices not dedected.
Possible solution(s):
- redesign d-i

4) Partitioner does not use existing swap
-----------------------------------------
Problem: BUG
Severity: IMPORTANT
Description:
In the variant "all in one" the target partion (10 GB in this case) is splitted into / and swap. Very unusual and unexpected behaviour.
Possible solution(s):
Provide the usual variants, as other distries do:
- entire disk
- / into one target, ask if to reuse existing swap
- expert mode

5) LVM not possible
-------------------
Problem: BUG
Severity: NORMAL (IMPORTANT?)
Possible solution(s):
- implement it

6) needs reboot before format
-----------------------------
Problem: BUG
Severity: IMPORTANT

7) Partition table damaged
--------------------------
Problem: BUG
Severity: CRITICAL
Description:
See output of

# cfdisk /dev/hda
FATAL ERROR: Bad logical partition 6: enlarged logical partitions overlap
                          Press any key to exit cfdisk

8) Confusing behaviour of partitioner
-------------------------------------
Problem: BUG
Severity: IMPORTANT
Description:
From the design of the User Interface it is not clear, what is missing (for unskilled), or which menue entry triggers what (for the experts). Also it "loops back" endless, boring.
Possible solution(s):
- redesign it
- use reliable utilities like fdisk, cfdisk, activated in clear
  steps/menue entries

9) Some essential steps not repeatable, if preconditions fail
-------------------------------------------------------------
Problem: BUG
Severity: IMPORTANT
Description:
If e.g. the Network-Interface is not detected, the network configurations fails. Subsequently apt-conf fails, etc. There is no way, to go back in the menues, and reconfigure, what is reconfigurable at later stages. At least a function like net-config is a big lack in Debian since years.
Possible solution(s):
- redefine the requirements of d-i
- redesign the navigation: make all screens/functions hierarchically
  ordered, step back etc.
- take into account, that steps can fail, and exception handling
  should be possible at UI-level

10) Does not install UNICODE or ask for it
------------------------------------------
Problem: BUG
Severity: IMPORTANT (NORMAL?)
Description:
Got en_US.ISO-8859-1 installed and configured. d-i did not ask for another option. UTF-8 should be the default, other locales optional.

11) No pager in base install
----------------------------
Problem: WHISH
Severity: NORMAL
Description:
Cursor keys do not work in man.

12) Important packages not (un)selectable/choosable/included in tasksel
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem: BUG (it's really more than an important whish)
Severity: IMPORTANT
Problem:
Some packages, which nearly everybody wants to install, are not installed - like ssh, less. On the other hand unbelievable amounts of packages are installed, not meeting the needs of everyone. E.g. I never use Open Office, but I like KDE.
Possible solution(s):
- redefine the tasks to a finer granulation
- provide a usable (=Usability) package selector

13) X misconfigured
-------------------
Problem: BUG
Severity: IMPORTANT
Description:
See relevant part of log:
(II) APM: driver for the Alliance chipsets: AP6422, AT24, AT3D
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 01:00:0
(EE) No devices detected.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

Ok, looked into my old conf and did the same, what Knoppix does: fall back to vesa, and Buttons "5".
Possible solution(s):
- learn something from Knoppix or Suse

14) GRUB did not install all previous OS
----------------------------------------
Problem: BUG
Severity: IMPORTANT
Description:
There were 2 bootable OS installed, but only one of them is recognized.
