Note that we're still working on getting preseeding to work everywhere.

I tried your preseed file, though I had to comment out this one line:

> d-i     partman-auto/init_automatically_partition       select  Erase entire disk: IDE1 master (hda) - 40.0 GB IC35L060AVV207-0

Since my disk is not the same and that confused partman in a different
way.

With that line commented out, I was prompted only for what disk to
autopartition, and the rest of partitioning happened automatically
except for the final confirmation. So I was not able to reproduce your
problem.

Tomorrow's build of the installer will have a fix so that the error message
dialog you saw will include the name of the debconf question that has
the problem. If you can try again with that and tell us what question
was at fault, it will help in tracking this down, since I cannot
reproduce it.
