When kernel modules loading for the IDE support, I have a message like:
via-irc, ide-scsi, ide-mod, ide-prob-mod, ide-detect, ide-floppy not
loaded because not present!

So, no IDE devices are detected and as consequently the partman program fails.
Other bug: when partman program fails by saying no devices to
partition are detected, and after continuing, the installer displays
a blue screen with no way for the user to interact with it.

Closing this report because this is a known problem in the current daily
builds.

The cause is a bit different than you suggest. The error messages you have
seen are not the cause.
Partman is broken at the moment. A fixed build should be available for
download on 07-09.

The blue screen ('partman hanging') is also known error.

Thanks,
FJP
