Bug#267325: RC1 CD install succeeds [Text mode display shifts 1 char left during reboot]

That was probably the installer starting the frame buffer, which puts
the monitor into a different graphics mode, which may occupy a slightly
different portion of a CRT display. You can add
debian-installer/framebuffer=false to your boot line or adjust the
monitor.

The start_pcmcia=false is really only useful if you're not in expert
mode. It does change the default answer to the question, but does not
prevent the question from being displayed in expert mode, due to a bug
that was fixed in the installer after RC1 was released.
