That was probably the installer starting the frame buffer, which puts the monitor into a different graphics mode, which may occupy a slightly different portion of a CRT display. It does change the default answer to the question, but does not prevent the question from being displayed in expert mode, due to a bug that was fixed in the installer after RC1 was released. -- see shy jo
