Bug#267770: some issues with partman

Package: installation-reports
Version: RC1

  Hi,

First of all, thanks for the good installer, you're doing great job.
But have to report several bugs, which could be not bugs at all but my
misunderstanding of how things shoud work.

I'm running cd installer on i386 platform (under vmware and
user-mode-linux error messages are the same).

1st. Partman doesn't remember settings for md devices. for example I've
set up /dev/md/1 to be formated as ext2 and mounted on /. If after that
I'll configure "Logical volume managed" or "MD devices", than settings
how to format /dev/md/1 and were to mount it will be lost. This doesn't
happen for logical volumes.

2nd. Partman doesn't allow me to format MD devices for LVM. And logical
volume manager doesn't scan MD devices for PVs. Formating md and
creating volume group from console works normally.

3rd. ssh console or ssh client doesn't work. They complains that
libutil.so.1 cannot be opened. here's output:
~ # ssh 127.0.0.1
ssh: error while loading shared libraries: libutil.so.1: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
~ # sshd
sshd: error while loading shared libraries: libutil.so.1: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
~ #

4rd. Installing root on raid (I know it isn't officially supported).
After installing all base packages, mdadm package is installed wich
starts mdadm in monitoring mode, which holds /target busy thus
preventing it from unmounting, which causes installer to exit with an
error.

Hope this report will help to iprove debian installer. Thanks in
advance.
