Today's upload of debootstrap implemented the change described at http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2004/04/msg00634.html ff. to remove all bootloaders from the base system. Unfortunately, d-i itself is not ready for such a change, as most of the bootloaders in question don't yet have installers that call apt-install. Since the new debootstrap-udeb made it into the archive today, tomorrow's sid_d-i images will be broken with respect to five bootloaders -- silo, palo, vmelilo, elilo, and dvhtool. Two other bootloaders, aboot and delo, have the necessary support already in the installers, so they should be ok as long as the necessary debian-cd changes are imported before tomorrow's daily build. If not, netinst CDs for alpha and mipsel will be broken, but other install methods should work. An NMU of debootstrap has been uploaded reverting the change for the five affected archs, and I will be filing bugs shortly against the corresponding five bootloader installers. -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer
