Bug#262070: failed installation report

Method: 
Used SBM to boot from the CD I burned from the above-mentioned .iso image.
Never got as far as reaching the network.

Machine: ASUS motherboard
Processor:, Athlon processor, 1600 MHz.
Memory: 1 gigabyte
Root Device: an IDE DVD drive, reading from a CD-ROM.
Root Size/partition table: 
    Root partition is /dev/hda3, 8.5 Gigabytes.  The entire sarge system
	is being installed within this partition, including
        /home, /boot, and everything.  It is formatted during installation
	with the reiser file system.
    /dev/hda4 contains a working woody system.  It works perfectly
	before and after the sarge installation.
    /dev/hda1 contains a working Windows ME system.  It works just as
        badly before and after installation.,

My experiences are quite similar to those I had with the Beta-4
installer I tried yesterday and reported on in bug#261745.

Everything went smoothly, except:
	After the reboot I about 16 complaints of the form:

NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x45E1

When I specified the Debian mirror I wanted to use, and it tried to
reach the site, I again got these messages, after which it informed
me that the mirror was unreachable.  Methinks it is /dev/eth0 that is
unreachable.  The messages continued sporadically until I rebooted out
of the installation.

Please let me know what additional actins you would like me to take
to diagnose this problem.  I suspect it may not be a problem with the
installer per se, but perhaps with some of the software being installed.
My woody system, on the same machine in partition /dev/hda4, works
perfectly.

I have a woody system on partition /dev/hda4, and it gives me the same
route -n and ifconfig output.

lsmod suggests to me that indicates that 8139too does indeed appear to
be loaded.  I believe it is the proper driver for my ethernet card.
