Comments/Problems:
<Description of the install, in prose, and any thoughts, comments
and ideas you had during the initial install.>
The install process went smoothly, albeit, slowly. 6.5 hours to install. I think that
perhaps an option should be written in whether or not to check for the authenticity of packages:
i.e. whether or to check md5sums etc. on a file before installing a package.
Seems like everytime a package was installed I noticed the dpkg program using 24MB of memory before
anything started to install. What's it doing with all that memory to install a 500k deB?
I also noticed that even though I chose the Testing Distribution for an install,
the installer automatically gave me the stable security.debian.org for part of
my sources.list automatically. Is this a mistake?
Also, I would like to see ext3 support added for the 2.2.25 installation kernel
on the m68k distro. It'sbeen tested for around 3 years. I've had no problems.
Why not at least allow it in the install process as <Experimental or New> with a
caution. Have the m68k installer, or whoever is responsible for making the kernel
for the base install use the ext3 patch and allow it as an option on the install
process. This would save some people about 4-6 hours making their own kernel to
add ext3 support. And it would encourage new users, if their system freezes, by
not having to wait half an hour for the boot to go through a fsck.
Install logs and other status info is available in /var/log/debian-installer/.

Hi,
first and foremost: thank you for your bug report.
I'm currently processing old installation reports, and have come across
yours. Many thanks for all your feedback. It is much appreciated.
As far as I can tell, ext3 is now an option for m68k installations.=20
Should I be wrong about this, I would like to ask you to please file a=20
new bug/installation report about this issue using the most current=20
install image for m68k. I will close this one now, since you overall=20
had a successful installation.
Thanks,
