Changing PCMCIA default resource ranges

There have been many reports of PCMCIA freezing during
installation. The reason for PCMCIA freezing is that the resource
ranges don't match the hardware. It's not possible to make the default
resource ranges work with all hardware (AFAIK) but I have noticed one
particularly problematic resource range: 0x800-0x8ff. This one causes
crashes on many common Dell laptops as well as other hardware types.

The interesting thing about this range is that other distributions,
such as Redhat, has removed it from the defaults. The question is,
should we do the same? While it would deviate from the upstream
default, it would eliminate many freezes. I don't know what negative
effects it could have, though. I have mailed the upstream author and
asked about it but he hasn't replied - he's probably on vacation. What
do you think?
