Hmm. 251418 was assigned to cdebconf which is currently not a good
idea. Sorting country names in countrychooser currently needs a trick
somewhere unless the more prospoective suggestios below are implemented.

I use this occasion for assigning a wishlist bug to both cdebconf and
debconf so that each of those has this wish recorded. I *know* this is
highly tricky. 

cdebconf already has some support for Indices fields. 

So, imho, we need:

-debconf support for Indices fields in a way similar to cdebconf
-po-debconf generating automatically these Indices fields

At the end both would give alphabetically sorted Choices lists in all
languages for Select and Multiselect lists.
