Well, if things seem to be working OK, I wouldn't worry too much about it! 
I would have expected vgchange to fail if the MDA checksums were wrong but it
seems not.

I'll have a word with upstream about it, as this exceeds my knowledge of the
LVM2 internals. Unfortunately he's away for most of this week so don't hold your
breath...In the meantime can you send me a vgdisplay output and a pvdisplay for
each PV on the system please?
