I maintain that "expert" should map to DEBCONF_PRIORITY=medium, and that
it should be DEBCONF_PRIORITY=*low* that requires people to type the
incantation by hand.  Most people who are considering themselves expert
for these purposes are going to want medium rather than low, I think.
