There have been a lot of changes recently. Can you please test an

We now use a completely new partitioning tool. I don't think it has
this problem, but can you please check to make sure it sees both of
your drives?

You could have opened a shell on the 2nd console after setting the
root password and load lvm. In any case, newer images now support
LVM. When you start the LVM tool, it will ask you whether you want to
activate your LVM volumes. They will then also be available after
reboot.
