Comments/Problems:

Note: I have almost no Linux experience. I do have MSDOS and Windows
experience.

During "Detecting network hardware"
With card containing a RealTek 8139A, message displayed is
Error while running 'modprobe -v 8139too'
I was unable to install 8139 drivers manually

With card containing Genica GN-788, message displayed is
Error while running 'modprobe -v tulip'
I did successfully install tulip drivers, and the network card appeared to
be working in later stages. My Genica card comes with Linux drivers. Is
there a way to install Debian Linux with these drivers?

When installing base system, gauge message reads "Validating apt". Error
message is "Debootstrap Error, Couldn't download apt"

Additional comments:
I wish I could install Linux in smaller stages, so that when installation
of one stage is complete, I can breathe easy and go on to the next step. It
takes forever to get to the "Installing Base System" and when the
installation fails at "Validating apt" with the gauge at 8%, I hate to have
to start all over again at the beginning.
I also had trouble with the disk partitioning. I'm not sure how to
describe it, but sometimes the computer froze and I also had to start over.
