Yeah, seams to be a good idea.

Yes, they will complain.
What about assigning them automatically some mount points? However
what kind of mount points? Strictly speaking these are not removable
media, but I can not guess better names than directories in the form
/media/hda2/, /media/sdb5/, etc.
