Comments/Problems:
Partitioning:
I tried to use LVM with
20M PALO
4.2G LVM
but got a message that the current kernel doesn't support the Logical Volume Manager. You may need to load
the lvm-mod module. |
I redid the partitions using ext3 as shown above.
Install base system:
Unable to install the selected kernel.
An error was returned while trying to install the kernel into the target system. |
Kernel package: 'kernel-image-2.4.25-64-smp'.
I've no idea why the installer was going for a 64-bit SMP kernel. Although the C360 will run hpux 64-bit, I get
a kernel panic if I boot with linux64. There is only one CPU. I tried install on a K410 yesterday and it errored
at the same point going after the same kernel. That box (K-410) will not run 64-bit for sure.
Here's part of /var/log/messages from an installer shell.

.... (237 lines about depmod like below)
depmod: ELF file /lib/modules/2.4.25-64-smp/kernel/net/sctp/sctp.o not for this architecture
depmod: ELF file /lib/modules/2.4.25-64-smp/kernel/net/xfrm/xfrm_user.o not for this architecture
There was a problem running depmod. This may be benign,
(You may have versioned symbol names, for instance).
Or this could be an error.
depmod exited with return value 1
In any case, since depmod is run at install time,
we could just defer running depmod
Would you like to abort now? [Yes] dpkg: error processing kernel-image-2.4.25-64-smp (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
kernel-image-2.4.25-64-smp
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Hope this helps.
