modprobe: Can't locate module pcmcia-cs. I also tried pcmcia_cs just in case. Same result.

It seems that the pcmcia-cs package does load the wrong module
(yenta-socket). Do you know which module should be used for your
hardware and which module got used during the installation?

P.S.: You should be able to change to another console by pressing
Alt-F2 and investigate the problem there.
