It's hard to tell from this description, but it sounds like you may have selected the old partitioner, partconf, from the menu, instead of partman. That would explain the different and broken UI, and also the broken fstab. The other possibility is that the first time into partman, you get the automatic partitioning menu, but this is not shown if you manually pick it from the main menu. There is a menu item below the partition table to do automatic partitioning though. But I don't think that was it. We've fixed this in the meantime by not building partconf for most architectures anymore (including powerpc). I'd suggest filing a separate bug on the web key problem if you can reproduce it with current daily bilds. -- see shy jo
